At Positive Dental Health, we make every effort in handling kids’ dental needs. We understand that children can be afraid of visiting the dentist, and this is why our staff are well trained in how to make them feel comfortable during the process. In some cases, we refer kids to a paediatric dentist if it is difficult to manage.
The Process We Follow During the First Visit
Two years old is the right age to bring your kid to the dentist. One of our dentists will conduct an overall oral examination. After the review, the dentist may suggest some dental procedures if they identify any dental problem.
As a parent, it is the right time to learn and understand about dental problems that might arise in kids during this age. The dentist is going to use the dental mirror to count the teeth of your children. Kids are going to enjoy and love this game. The dentist talks with the kids, and they will give them instructions, guidance, and tips on how they can take care of their teeth.
Teaching them how to brush and floss their teeth is one way to train children to take care of their teeth at a young age. When they grow up, they will maintain good oral health and, as a result, keep dental diseases at bay.
During the Second Visit
Once the child is four year and above, it is wise to revisit the dentist. They will get an x-ray of your child’s mouth. They will suggest you in getting a digital radiograph as it does not emit any radiation. The dentist will check it to see if there are any cavities or any other problems.
Some Tips to Follow
Some children are afraid of going to the dentist. Avoid using words such as drilling, pain, etc when talking about the dentist. Kids will be more excited when you talk about the positive things that happen in the dental clinic.
The CDBS Program
CDBS is an acronym for Child Dental Benefits Schedule. This program started from the 1st Jan 2014 and it covers children of ages 2 to 17. Now they also cover dental expenses of kids and so far, they have covered dental costs of more than 3 million children.
It means you do not have to worry about paying money in the dental clinic, as they are going to bulk-bill. You don’t have to worry about money if your children have a dental problem. If this program covers them, you can bring them to our clinic.
